| Environmental mold surveys can be useful in providing information about the identity and prevalence of fungus spores in the home and work environment. Sporulating molds are identified to the genus level. Spore densities are determined by colony counts on microbiological agar plates.
Each mold survey kit contains three plates with instructions for proper exposure and return shipment to Allermed for evaluation. A mold identification report is provided, which details the identity and number of fungus colonies present on each agar plate. Identification of molds can be an important adjunct to allergy skin testing in assessing the potential role of fungus allergens in allergic disease. |
